Dannii Minogue – mother, author, TV presenter, beauty guru, fashion designer and more! – takes OK! behind the scenes of her new Fibre Lash commercial
In her first-ever beauty collaboration, Dannii Minogue – the super-mum who can seemingly do anything – bats her eyelids as the face of ModelCo’s Fibre Lash brush-on false lashes – and OK! was lucky enough to go behind the scenes on the set of the TV commercial that’ll air both here and in the UK this month.
Looking as svelte and fabulous as ever, Dannii is one busy woman. She’s just released her second book, Dannii Minogue: My Style; is being touted to take up a judging role on Britain’s Got Talent next year; and was recently awarded an honorary doctorate for her contribution to the entertainment industry. She took time out from her hectic schedule to chat to OK! about being a beauty icon at 40, her recent health scare and, of course, just how we too can get her show-stopper lashes!
So what can we expect from this commercial?
I walk into a lift and I’ve just got mascara on. Then, when I come out, I’ve got the Fibre Lash on and my lashes are just wow! The product speaks for itself.
Tell us, how does it feel to be the face of a beauty campaign?
If someone had told me years ago, ‘When you’re 40 you’re going to be shooting a beauty campaign’, I would’ve thought, ‘That’s crazy!’ [These days] it’s fantastic to have women of all different ages in advertisement and campaigns.
I think Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives changed that because those actresses never [used to get] employed. Once a woman had wrinkles, it was like, we can’t show her… back in the house! It’s just incredible now that it has changed. [But] I’m still freaked out that it’s me in the commercial!
How was your 40th birthday? In the past you’ve mentioned it’d be a meltdown moment – was it?
Well, I made it a ‘birth month’ of celebrations – there’s no need to put all the pressure on one day, it’s just too much! The hard bit for me has been that I lost a best friend to cancer and she was the same age as me. Not having her here makes you think how lucky you are – so we rode through all of those emotions, as well as celebrating.
