Model and TV presenter Jesinta Campbell chats to OK! about staying in shape and battling her insecurities
Growing up on the Gold Coast meant Jesinta Campbell lived in swimsuits, and loved it! It wasn’t until she started modelling aged 17 that the insecurities crept in and she had concerns about throwing a cossie over her perfect curves.
It’s hard to believe that the former Miss Universe Australia, who also washed a car in a string bikini on national television for The Celebrity Apprentice, would have any body issues whatsoever, but on a trip away with OK! to Hamilton Island, courtesy of Virgin Australia, the 20-year-old revealed that she doesn’t find herself that attractive and wonders what all the fuss is about!
The natural beauty was brought up with more emphasis on what’s inside rather than outside, which ultimately makes her the perfect package. She’s currently in constant demand for radio and TV appearances, is a fitness ambassador for ASICS and will host the Swisse Vitamins marquee at the Melbourne Grand Prix next month.
Surprisingly though, she hasn’t been snapped up by an eligible bachelor – yet! – although Jes does admits she’s dating and having fun, in between work commitments and keeping fit.
OK! enjoyed a few days in the beautiful surrounds of the Whitsunday Islands, where we quizzed the beauty on just how she manages to look so good in her bathing suit!
Jesinta, how would you describe your relationship with your body?
Um, today it’s good [laughs]. Like any girl, it goes up and down. Some days I wake up and I feel really good and confident and then other days I just want to put a big kaftan on and not be in a bikini.
Growing up, when did you start to feel confident about your body?
I don’t think I’ve ever felt 100 per cent confident about hitting the stage in a bikini − it’s always something that I get nervous about. I grew up in swimwear, but when I started modelling I became shy.
