Get the perfect faux-glow with these expert tips!
Your pre-tan preparation and post-tan care have as much impact on the end result as the actual fake tan itself.
Katrina Brown from The Bronzing Boutique (thebronzingboutique.com.au) imparts her wisdom for maximising the result.
1. Wax and/or shave up until one day prior to your tanning application.
2. Prior to tanning, exfoliate your skin with a body polish to remove dead skin cells – this will make your tan last longer.
3. Make sure you’re freshly showered before you tan.
4. Do not apply moisturiser or deodorant prior to tanning.
5. It’s a good idea to wear dark, lose clothing while your fake tan develops.
6. Moisturise daily after you’ve applied tan to make it last longer and fade evenly.
7. Avoid hot baths, chlorinated swimming pools and the ocean in the first few days after you tan as these will
make the tan fade quicker.
And just remember, sure, a fake tan makes your skin look sun-kissed, but that doesn’t give you any kind of sun protection! Always use an SPF sunscreen when outdoors.
